General Oral History Collection
The General Oral History Collection is a continuously growing collection which currently includes over 700 interviews discussing many local History topics. Narrators span races, ages, social class, education, etc. Some of the most common topics include African American history, Ft. Benning, Columbus State University, Phenix City, and teaching in the Chattahoochee Valley region. Many of the interviews have been transcribed, but most consist of only the original recording.
Geneva H. Southall Collection
The collection consists of several articles about Dr. Southall, and an article she wrote on Blind Tom in in 1975. There is reference to a cassette of Dr. Southall performing some of Blind Tom’s compositions, but that has not been found.
George C. Woodruff, Jr./Shakespeare Collection
This collection consists of a full set of the plays of William Shakespeare published by the Limited Editions company of New York. This is set 40 of 1950. They are cataloged in the CSU library on-line system, but are held in the special collections area of the CSU archives. 1940 37 volumes (3 l.f.)
George Holt Collection
This collection consists of three items. The first is a single sheet of genealogical information on the Columbus, Georgia branch of the Holt family, and the second is a photocopy of a letter written by George Holt to Florence, dated August 5, 1909 from “In Camp, 5 miles from Tangiers” describing his activities in Algeria. The third item is two sheets of photocopied and unidentified family photographs.
