Scope and Contents From the Collection: Robert Mills Gunby was born in Georgia in 1811 and married Jane Louise Beall. He served on the board of directors for the Bank of Columbus in 1856, owned a R.M. & Company, a grocer, with Edward Croft in 1859-1860. The grocer was located at 116 Broad Street. W.H. Young, Gunby’s brother-in-law owned and operated the Eagle Factory and made Robert the president. He remained in that position until 1865 when it was destroyed by Wilson.
