According to the New York Times obituary of its founder, Jonathan Williams, The Jargon Society was a small publishing house in the western mountains of North Carolina that since 1952 has introduced the works of unknown, little-known and soon-to-be-better-known writers, photographers and artists. Most of the correspondence is from its Executive Director, Tom Patterson.
