 File — Box: 1, Folder: 40

Scope and Contents

From the File:

Contracts and Correspondence:

These folders contain contracts for services and supplies, proposals, audits, reports and correspondence relating to the MCUL Department of Economic Development and Employment, mainly involving the CETA and the PIC. Some may deal with more than one program (such as the Job Training Partnership or the Summer Youth Investment Program) but all ED&E-related contracts, correspondence and related documentation such as audits, evaluations, budget and finance are held together here in the Contracts and Correspondence folders. A few non-programmatic contracts are included in these files, such as rental of office equipment.

Program Activities:

The general goal of the ED&E unit was primarily two-fold. One part was to prepare unemployed individuals for work through training and the other was to provide temporary work, such as summer programs for youth, through Job Training Partnership Projects (JTPP), involving CETA, PIC, the United Way and other local, state and national programs. Programs include summer youth employment, youth competency projects, work habits development, clerical skills classes, money management seminars, and other work-related activities undertaken by the ED&E division. These folders are filed alphabetically by name of activity/event and chronologically thereunder.
