Columbus Postcard Scrapbook

 File
Identifier: SMC 137

Scope and Contents

This is a scrapbook with 25 leafs titled “Art Collection” on the front cover. The first leaf has a bird’s eye view of Columbus, Georgia titled “Columbus Georgia: The Place with the Power and the Push.” Apart from this first leaf, each side of each leaf has one postcard pasted on it with a cutting from the letterhead of a Columbus, Georgia business pasted below it. Some of the postcards include a view of a local business, and many of these have the letterhead of that business pasted below the card. In many other cases, there seems to be no relation between the letterhead and the image. For example, the letterhead of the Reich Jewelry Co. located at 1044 Broad Street, is below a postcard of the railroad bridge and the Dillingham Street Bridge across the Chattahoochee River.

The pages are detached from the binding, so the original order is unknown.
