Tour de Georgia 2004 Collection
Scope and Contents
The small collection consists of the route map for the seven stages, the winners, teams and a collection of photos taken in downtown Columbus as the race whizzed by. Many feature the race peloton coming down Veterans Parkway into downtown and the finish line across from the Springer Opera House showing the winning cyclists.

Biographical / Historical
The Tour de Georgia 2004 consisted of a weeklong event in the state of professional cyclists and their teams. It was divided into seven stages around the state. Stage 2 came into Columbus from Thomaston, Georgia. Teams and cyclists cane from around the world to compete in this “tune-up” for the Tour de France. Among the professional teams riding were the U.S. Postal Service Pro Cycling Team, Team CSC from Denmark and Health Net Pro Cycling of the United States. Pro cyclists that participated included Lance Armstrong, George Hincapie, Jens Voight, Chris Horner, Bobby Julich, Gordon Fraser and Mario Cipollini of Italy, who won the Columbus stage.
