Between Columbus and Americus, along GA highway 26, is the little town of Buena Vista. About 2.5 miles east of its only traffic light is the studio of Helena Meek –“Sunny Acres Gallery –Where History Becomes Canvas”. She was born in this 1926 Williamsburg house, the youngest of 6 children. Her mother ran the 1,800 acre dairy farm single-handedly after her father died when Helena was 3. Her mother had “perfect taste in color” and was a major influence for her color and design. In 1976, the bicentennial year, she realized that historical homes were a major interest to her. Helena is a member of the American Society of Portrait Artists in Montgomery as well as the Portrait Society of Atlanta and the American Impressionists Society.
