Mary Augusta Strupper Scrapbook
Scope and Contents
This small collection consists of one scrapbook dating from the late 1890s. It is housed in the oversized SMC area. The scrapbook contains newspaper articles, school programs, wedding announcements and telegrams. It gives an interesting insight into the life of a young lady in the late 1890s, before marriage. It includes a program from Chappell College in 1891.

Biographical / Historical
Mary Augusta Strupper was born 9 June 1876 and died 22 October 1960 at the age of 86. She was the daughter of Ignatius George Strupper, born in Italy, and Mary Rebecca Everett. She had one brother, George Everett Strupper. In the 1880 census, the family lived ay 344 Broad St. By 1900, they lived at 803 Broad St. She lived at this address her whole life. She married Charles James Merdith on 3 Nov 1897 at First Presbyterian church in Columbus. They had no children. Augusta was the treasurer of the Ladies Memorial Association and a member of the Daughters of the Confederacy. Her husband had been a member of the City Council and the State Legislature. Charles Meredith died in 1932. They are both buried in Linwood Cemetery.
