Biographical / Historical
The Governor George W. Towns Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution was formed in 1946 in Talbotton County, Georgia. The chapter is named after Governor George Washington Towns (1801-1854) who was a U.S. congressman and the 39th Governor of Georgia, serving from 1847 to 1851. The county of Towns, Georgia is named in his honor.
