Biographical / Historical

The RiverCenter for the Performing Arts is located at 900 Broadway in Columbus, Georgia. It has been called the Jewel of Columbus and the Southeast. The building size is 245,000 square feet and is 5 stories tall. It was completed in April 2002 at a cost of $ 75 million. The RiverCenter houses the Columbus State University Schwob School of Music, the Columbus Symphony Orchestra, Cantus Columbus, the Columbus Ballet, the Columbus Youth Orchestra and other organizations. The Center features three theaters; the Bill Heard Theatre, a 2000 seat multi-purpose theatre; Legacy Hall, a 450 seat recital hall which also houses the Jordan Concert Organ; and the Studio Theatre, a 150-220 seat experimental theatre. Dedicatory events included Opening Night in the Bill Heard Theatre on Monday, April 22, 2002.
