Content Description
The collection is contained in five Hollinger boxes. Boxes three-five hold yearbooks, minutes and handbooks. Boxes one and two hold an assortment of materials pertaining to the south, the Civil War, the Confederacy and Alabama. The three flags of the organization are included in box 5. Multiple scrapbooks made yearly by the UDC are stored unboxed.

Biographical / Historical
The Russell County Chapter of the United Daughters of the Confederacy #2114 was organized on June 28, 1940, by Mrs. Jessie Watson Spinks. The chapter flower is the gardenia, the song Blest be the tie that binds. Their motto is “some defeats are merely the installments of victory”. The website states that the organization is “ a tax free nonprofit organization whose objectives are historical, benevolent, educational, memorial, patriotic and dedicated to honoring the memory of Confederate ancestors, protecting, preserving and making places made historic by confederate valor.”

Condition Description
Majority of materials are in good condition but some of the older scrapbooks are falling apart and are on acidic newsprint paper
