Biographical / Historical
The First Baptist Church of Columbus in Columbus, Georgia was constituted on February 4, 1829, a year after the founding of the city itself. First known as Ephesus Baptist Church until 1833, it later became the Baptist Church of Columbus. Located on Randolph Street, later 12th Street, the church was originally a 28 x 40 wooden structure. The chapel wing was damaged by fire on April 22, 1994, and was restored and rededicated May 7, 1995.
