Biographical / Historical
The West Point Pepperell plants included in this collection are the Anderson Mill, the Columbus Mill, the Dixie Mill, and the Dunson Mill. The working of the various departments of the mills are evaluated for costs, efficiency, and specifications.
This is a collection of books and documentation about the machinery, products, and supervision of the textile industry. The Whitin Machine Works in Whitinsville, Massachusetts provided machinery.
The company observed its 75th anniversary in 1955, began manufacturing carpeting the year after that and, in 1958, reformed its subsidiaries into three operating divisions: Dixie Mill Division, Columbus Mill Division, and Anderson Division. In March of 1965, West Point Manufacturing Company and Pepperell Manufacturing Company merged to form West Point-Pepperell, Inc.
