Columbus Public School Report Collection 1867-1941
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of the annual reports of the Columbus Georgia Public Schools from 1867 to 1941. This collection was numbered MC 063 when it was housed at the Columbus Public Library. These reports define the rules, regulations, and organization of the Public Schools. There are many lists of the graduates of the high school, dating from the 1890's. Descriptions of what was taught at each grade level, teacher's names, and the titles of textbooks can be found. Each of these reports is listed separately in GIL and housed in one box. This collection gives a fascinating glimpse into the schools of yesteryear.

This collection of reports on the Public Schools was given to the Columbus State University Archives in the fall of 2013 when the Columbus Public Library donated its archival material to the Columbus State University Archives.
