Biographical / Historical
The Latin American Studies Group of Columbus, Georgia, Inc. was incorporated on August 2, 1962, upon the petition of Elena Amos, Dr. Jose C. Serrato, Jr. and Myrtle Smith. The purposes of the group was to engage in sponsoring and teaching classes in foreign language and promoting cultural interchange between the peoples of the nations of the new world, in order to promote a better understanding between the people of the United States and the peoples of our sister republics of the New World.
