James A. Fuller Letters Collection
Scope and Contents
This collection contains a series of wartime letters written by James Aaron Fuller from 1862 to 1864. Another letter, written in November 1865, is from Ellen Whiteside to Fuller after the close of the American Civil War. Fuller was a Private in Company K of the 47th Alabama Infantry Regiment of the Confederate States Army during the American Civil War.
Also included in this collection are:
● State pension applications from 1897 to 1924
● A brief service record of Fuller
● A photocopy of a book, titled “Historical Sketches of the Forty-Seventh Alabama Infantry Regiment, C.S.A.”, by Cpt. Joseph Q. Burton, Pvt. Theophilus F. Botsford, and William Stanley Hoole, published in 1909.

Biographical / Historical
Contains a set of letters from Private James Aaron Fuller of the Confederate States Army to his wife, to his friends, and to his mother and father. Fuller was born on August 13th, 1840, in Dadeville, Alabama and died on March 17th, 1898 in Tallapoosa County, Alabama.
He was married to Amanda Lowe on July 24th, 1861. Amanda “Minta” Lowe Fuller was born on October 8th, 1844 and died on September 20th, 1934. They had three children.
