Biographical / Historical

John Lumpkin Duffie (1836-?) married Henrietta A. Blackmar (1834-1914) on September 4, 1860 in Muscogee County, Georgia. They had two children, Charles Alfred Duffie (1861-?) and Francis “Fannie” Estelle Duffie (1865-1949). Not much is known about John other than he was born in Rhode Island. Henrietta was the daughter of Alfred Owen Blackmar (1799-1865) and Susan Adeline Daly (1809-1895). It is believed that Charles A. Duffie was a photographer in Columbus, Georgia and spelled his name Duffee. Fannie was a piano and music teacher in Columbus.

The Duffie/Duffee family had many relatives across several states including Rhode Island, Ohio, Kentucky, and Minnesota.
