Biographical / Historical

Very little written history exists about the tiny community of Upatoi, Georgia. The earliest reference of the Upatoi community is a 1849 Post Office entry in George White's Statistics of the State of Georgia. This community located in the northwest section of Muscogee County has retained a small community flavor even though the area was consolidated into the Columbus/Muscogee County consolidated Government in 1971. These materials were gathered by Kay Ingram and Elizabeth King in the course of research into the history of the community.
