Private Alexander B. Wynn Civil War Letters
Scope and Contents
This collection consists of 17 original letters of Private Alexander B. Wynn dated from 1861 to July 1862, and written to various members of his family. The last one was dated July 11, 1862, two days before he died.
Also included in this collection is a family tree of Emily Helene Meier and George Samuel Rhodes, family of the donor.

Biographical / Historical
Alexander B. Wynn was born in 1842. According to the 1860 census his mother was Rebecca, born in about 1816, and his sisters were named Melinda, Martha, Mary and Narcissa. His home in 1850 and 1860 was Allens, Warren County, Georgia. He served as a private in the Civil War in Company B, 48th Regiment, Georgia Volunteer Infantry, Army of Northern Virginia, C.S.A. He died in a Richmond,Virginia hospital on July 13, 1862.
