Biographical / Historical
Helen Pitzele, nee Schutzbank, was a professional musician who donated many scores and miscellaneous items in 2002 to the CSU Archives. She grew up in a Jewish family in Centerville, Ohio and attended the University of Iowa. She married O. Sherman Pitzele and the couple lived in California and after his death, she lived in Minnesota for a time. She taught at music camps in Georgia where her late sister, Ruth Schwob and husband Simon Schwob were benefactors of the music school and library at Columbus State University.
