Leland Henderson and Ruth Kroglan Collection

 Collection
Identifier: MC 103

Scope and Contents

The Leland Henderson and Ruth Kroglan Collection comprise five boxes and equal 3.5 linear feet of material arranged alphabetically within each box.

Box 1 consists of material that primarily focuses upon the arts in Columbus such as the Little Theater League and its related theatrical productions. Materials include scripts from various plays, various poems, and the writings of Walter F. George a convicted bootlegger who wrote short stories while incarcerated in the Atlanta Penitentiary.

Box 2 and 3 are a mix of materials that document disparate topics such as the organization of the Kroglan Farm in Harris County, Georgia, the Old Slave Mart Museum in Charleston, South Carolina, and the Peach Blossom Festival.

Box 4 contains the Columbus Chamber of Commerce's 1957 color slide show. A classic example of "selling the South," these slides depict the Chamber's quest to lure industries by showcasing the educational, industrial, economic, and recreational might of Columbus. For more photographs from the Leland Henderson and Ruth Kroglan Collection MC 103 see Photograph Collection folders 301-336.

Oversize materials are stored in Box 5. Two items are included: the Kroglan Farm ledger book and The Sunday Ledger - Enquirer Civil War Centennial Edition
