Correspondence, 1998
Scope and Contents
Although the Rotary Club operated on a fiscal year that started on July 1 and ended on June of the following year their correspondence was filed by calendar year. Club officials, committee members, etc. relinquished their positions on June 30th of each year and their replacements took up their positions on July 1 of each year. Much of the correspondence deals with new members joining, older members resigning or taking senior status and also with members requesting leaves of absence due to illness, travel, business conflicts, etc. These matters were considered at the Board of Director’s meeting held closest to the middle of each month, after which their replies were sent out. The letters of nominations, requests of leave of absence, etc. were sometimes stapled to the answering letter, and sometimes not. The processor removed the staples and filed both the incoming requests and the responses by date of the item.
