Scope and Contents
The Ivey Center Collection is divided into eight series.
Series 1 is a collection of Lectures and Research papers by Dr. Ivey. It also includes the layout and development for the educational TV program: The Six Faces of History, its review, accompanied by related papers, and letters pertaining to Dr. Ivey's involvement. Dates: 1953-1988
Series 2 consists of overviews, reviews, and audits pertaining to the establishment of the Cultural Approach program in Montgomery, Alabama. Dates: 1971-1977
Series 3 includes documents pertaining to the Alabama state curriculum model for kindergarten through twelfth grade for the teaching of social studies, following the establishment of the Cultural Approach Program. Dates: 1976-85
Series 4 pertains to Alabama history, heritage, and recreation. Dates: 1977-1985
Series 5 includes maps and diagrams spanning from Neolithic man to modern Europe, used in A Cultural Approach to the Teaching of Geography.
Series 6 consists of lesson plans for A Cultural Approach to the Teaching of Social Studies.
Series 7 is a collection of teacher and student made lesson plans for A Cultural Approach to the Teaching of Social Studies. It covers civilizations spanning from Neolithic man to Modern States.
Series 8 is a collection of slides and photographs created or taken by the Ivey Center in its Cultural Approach to the Teaching of Social Studies.
