Processing Information

ISAC and its predecessor group hosted a series of conferences from 1973 to 2003. The first 10 years of meetings were held at Westville in Lumpkin, Georgia. ISAC functioned in an informal way until its incorporation on October 25, 1983. The conferences were the main activities of ISAC, along with its publishing program, and thus the detailed conference agendas from 1983-2003 provide a sort of table of contents to the general correspondence series, as well as a guide to the main participants in the organization’s administration as well as those involved in in its conferences and publications. There are some agendas for the Westville series of meetings, and for those without agendas lists of the papers are provided where they exist. Not all papers listed are present in the records of ISAC, and there are some paper not listed in the agendas and lists.

In addition to the agendas, if present, the conference folders may contain lists of attendees, logistical arrangements, PR notices, newspaper clippings and other event-related materials. Correspondence relating to individual conferences such as negotiations with possible presenters, possible topics of presentations, post-event thank-you notes, etc. are filed either in the Correspondence-General or in the individual folders under Correspondence.

Several conferences have no documentation present in the ISAC material, but may be present in the Mahan materials (MC 34).
