Scope and Contents
This collection consists of the papers of Dr. Dews, mainly related to his research on Carson McCullers. This material includes posters from film versions of McCullers' books, books and monographs, recordings, photographs, Carson McCullers Society newsletters, playbills and copious scholarly work related to his dissertation and books relating to Carson McCullers, both published and unpublished. In the latter category are the research files for his projected study of the time Carson McCullers lived in a house owned by George Davis at 7 Middagh Street in Brooklyn, New York in the 1940s.

This folder contains Zeigler’s reminiscences of Reeves and Carson McCullers, as well a copy of the description of the funeral of John Fullilove (1919-2000) who a close friend of Carson and Reeves McCullers in Paris. There are also four photographs, including one of Rita Smith with Edwin Peacock on Sullivan’s Island in August of 1966; one of Jacques Tourville with his translator Robert do Para; one of Carson McCullers with Robert Walden; and one with Edwin Peacock, Rita Smith, John Zeigler and T. J. Worthington at Sullivan’s Island, August 1966.
