Scope and Contents
This collection consists of the papers of Dr. Dews, mainly related to his research on Carson McCullers. This material includes posters from film versions of McCullers' books, books and monographs, recordings, photographs, Carson McCullers Society newsletters, playbills and copious scholarly work related to his dissertation and books relating to Carson McCullers, both published and unpublished. In the latter category are the research files for his projected study of the time Carson McCullers lived in a house owned by George Davis at 7 Middagh Street in Brooklyn, New York in the 1940s.

Processing Information
This folder contains oversized photographs taken during Dr. Dews’ visit to Nyack in 1996 for the dedication of the historical marker in front of Carson McCullers home at 131 S. Broadway in Nyack, New York. They include photos of participants in the ceremony, the exterior of 131 S. Broad, as well as the garden. There are also shots of the hospital where Carson McCullers died, as well as of her grave and those of her mother and sister.
