Biography
Mary v. Blackmon joined the faculty of Columbus College in 1959 were she taught education and physical education classes. She also coached Volleyball, Tennis, and Cheerleading. She remained as coach and faculty member for 28 years and organized the first intercollegiate Athletic Program for Women and took the tennis team to three state championships. She retired in 1987 as Professor Emerita. The tennis courts at Columbus State University are named in her honor.
